A counteroffensive was initiated by the Four Nation Alliance. The main force of the alliance army, coming from the Kingdom of Felius via land, invaded the territory of the Duchy of Mayard. In addition to shaking up the mainland of Highserk Empire from Libertoa, harassment attacks were conducted by the Mayard navy based on Lake Selta.

The Highserk Empire abandoned the occupied territories of the Kingdom of Felius and fortified their defenses along the former Mayard border, adopting a strategy of delay and aiming for a war of attrition.

Due to repeated exhaustion and critical surprise attacks, the Four Nation Alliance abandoned its attempts to capture the front-line Sarajevo Fortress and ramparts. Under the leadership of the Libertoa Trade Federation, they shifted to a scorched earth tactic using the Black Water in the Demonic Territory.
